I'm trying to portray here the actual person, but am not sure
how to make it flow and remain interesting to someone who
doesn't know me.
I've written a lot: letters, articles, essays, journalism,
professional things, etc. However, I've found that this project
entails considerable new writing. That takes a lot of time and
energy. To my surprise, some of it has proved fairly difficult

changing often, so please come back now and then to see what
has transpired. It's a long narrative, with many intertwinings,
which I see as the big challenge.

I've had a lot of different looks in my long life, many of
them captured on film. Nevermind the blatant vanity. |

There are also some vital statistics and miscellaneous
personal factoids. |
 |
There's some sort of story associated with every place I've
lived. |
 |
My biological family is not a big group, but it has
several wonderfully interesting characters in it. |
 |
As happens with most people, I suppose, I've also shared in
extended families. |

From 1940 to 1968; it spanned a whole generation and
witnessed many changes in this world. |
 |
I retired in July of 1997, after working 52 years, 41 of
them at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. |
 |
Various hobbies and other activities over the years have
given me both simple and complex pleasures.

 |
I earned my daily bread from computing, but I live for
music, that fascinating alternate universe.
|
 |
I got to it only late in life, but in my mind I've been
riding for half a century. |
 |
Getting and remaining fit is not only healthy, but
trememdous fun. |
 |
There is a grab-bag of things I find interesting, sometimes
amazing or merely odd. |

Experiences and reflections on a lifetime of loving men: it
has been a remarkable and rewarding odyssey. |
